Ontario Summer Games (OSG)

The Ontario Summer Games was first introduced in Etobicoke in 1970 and over the years has become a very prestigious event for athletes across the Province. With athletes competing in various team and individual sports, the Games have become Ontario’s largest multi-sporting event. Women’s field lacrosse being one of the 26 plus sports played at the OSG’s.

OSG is offered bi-annually.

2026 Ontario Summer Games

OSG Girl's field lacrosse will take place in KW at Laurier University on

July 31 - August 2, 2026. 

 

What Girl's Field Lacrosse Will Look Like at OSG?

  • U17 age players from OWFL club teams will be selected to participate

  • Players will be divided into 6 teams

  • Opening Ceremonies (including the parade of athletes from all participating sports)

  • 3 days of competition

  • Medal Ceremony

  • All-tournament teams selected

OSG Girls Field Lacrosse Player Eligibility

  • Players born in 2010, 2011, 2012

  • Players must be registered with and in good standing with the OLA

  • Players must be registered with and in good standing with their OWFL club

  • Players must play in the OWFL during the 2026 season to be eligible

  • If a player drops from their OWFL Club roster and they are no longer playing in the OWFL they would be ineligible from OSG.  This includes players who do not qualify for provincials.

Please note:

Player selections - at the conclusion of day 1, May 17th, players will be contacted by email to be invited back to day 2, May 18th, OR released from OSG tryouts.

 

If the player has not received an email within 5 hours post tryout on Day 1, May 17th, please contact playerdevelopment@owfl.org

Players will be informed by email within 72 hours of the final tryout if they have been selected for the 2026 Ontario Summer Games.

Ontario Summer Games

Team Members

U17 age players from OWFL club teams will be selected to participate. Players are divided into 6 teams through a draft process led by the OSG coaches.

 

Team Announcement

The 2026 OSG team announcement will take place at the U9, U11, U13 & JEWL Provincials. The date, time, field # TBD. Athletes will meet their coaches & teammates, attend a team meeting and receive their apparel packages.

Athlete Travel

Athlete transportation from the Games accommodation sites (residence) to and from the competition venues (lacrosse field - Alumni Field) and special event (Opening Ceremonies) sites, will be provided by OSG staff. Schedules for this service will be provided to coaches and athletes approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of OSG.

 

​Players are responsible for their own travel to and from OSGs.

Athlete Accommodations

Participants will receive accommodations at Laurier University. Dorm room assignments will not be determined until at least one month post tryouts. All eligible athletes, sport assistants, coaches, managers, trainers, officials, and OWFL representatives will be staying at Laurier University throughout the OSGs. Athletes will be supervised in the dorms by their coaches, managers and trainers.

All participants will be required to check-in on July 30, 2026 and check-out on August 2, 2026 as assigned by OWFL. Check-in and check-out times are TBD

 

Coaches, managers and OWFL representatives will be responsible for ensuring the proper conduct of athletes under their supervision at all times, including while staying at the arranged place of accommodation.

Athlete Meals

Details regarding distribution and locations of meals will be determined based on tournament schedule.

 

Only participants who are officially registered for the Games are eligible for meals.

OSGs will follow the Standardized Meal Requirement and Guidelines provided by the Ministry of Sport. 

 

Medical Services

Medical personnel and equipment will be provided by OSG staff at the Games. One OSG Athletic Trainer and the team's bench trainer will be available at the field throughout the event.

 

The OSG coaches, managers and trainers will maintain guardianship for each athlete, collect and maintain each athlete’s medical information and provide information, if required, to emergency services throughout the Games.

 

If an athlete requires transportation in an emergency vehicle, an OWFL representative and/or team personnel will accompany them and will provide updates to the athlete’s parent/guardian. 

What to Bring - Women's Field Lacrosse

  • Team uniform and OSG Apparel (players will receive at the Team Announcement Meeting)

  • WF Lacrosse stick, goggles, mouth guard, cleats, running shoes

  • Black bottoms for the opening ceremonies

  • Several changes of clothes (4 days supply)

  • Rain gear

  • Snacks (nut free)

  • Sunscreen

  • Hat, sunglasses

  • Water bottle

  • Shower shoes

  • Small fan

  • Pillow, blanket/sleeping bag and fitted sheet (twin)

  • Money

Cost

$550 - includes accommodations (at tournament), meals (at tournament), travel (at tournament) 1 practice, tournament fees, apparel package.
