Stay Onside Campaign Launches for 2025

With an emphasis on respect in sport, the OWFL will be implementing a number of new and related initiatives during the 2025 OWFL season.

The Stay Onside! campaign is aimed at addressing increasingly negative sideline and on-field behaviour in the OWFL. By implementing practical, enforceable policies our goal is to allow players, coaches, and officials to perform at their highest level every game and be encouraged to return to the OWFL year-after-year. The Stay Onside! campaign aims to promote safe play, respect, and sportsmanship amongst all OWFL community members through four policies which have been overhauled for the 2025 season and will be implemented on a trial basis:

1. OWFL Discipline Policy (Cards);

   • Changes include introduction of the Purple Card and simplifying the points/suspension/hearing system.

2. OWFL Respect in Sport Policy;

   • Reviewed; clubs will be asked to get families to review/sign-off. 

3. OWFL Education Initiatives;

   • Visual campaign and educational materials launched across the OWFL website and social media channels.

4. OWFL Captain’s Talk;

   • Parent representatives will be asked to join Captain’s Talk and shake hands to promote respect in sport.
